About Us
Mission and History
The site is jointly owned by the four local Guiding Divisions of Newcastle, Stoke North, Longton and Stoke South and is managed by a voluntary Committee; Copeland Cottage Management Committee. We have a number of volunteers involved in the management and maintenance of the site but we are always looking for more helpers.
The facilities are in regular use, the cottage is used all year round, usually at weekends and occasionally longer during school holidays. The Camp site is used at weekends and school holidays during the season. Since the site was donated the facilities have been regularly updated; for example in 2000 parts of the cottage were refurbished and upgraded and the same for the Breeze Chalet in 2002. In 2009 a new car park area was created.
As a charity the funding of the site relies entirely on fees paid by groups who use the facilities and donations, including fundraising. This may take the form of individual Guide Units doing fund-raising events and applying for grants from both national and local grant making bodies.
Fundraising is an ongoing task for more information on this and how you can help please look at our fundraising page.
We have a number of generous benefactors who have supported us financially over a number of years. To find out more please visit our donations page.
