Adventure Play Area

We now have a large play area which is free to use for any groups who have booked the site. It features a large tyre swing and climbing structures alongside a brand new bespoke campfire circle and willow structures.

The Adventure Play area has been created thanks to sponsorship from:

  • The Coalfields Regeneration Trust

  • Staffordshire Environmental Fund.

  • Newcastle Division Girlguiding Trading

  • Newcastle Division Girlguiding

  • Longton Division Girlguiding

  • The Wilfred and Elsie Elkes Charity Fund.

The play area has been designed in the ethos of  ‘Natural Play’ and is intended to give children and young people the freedom to play creatively, while allowing them to experience risk, challenge and excitement. The structures we have included are challenging and different from what visitors are likely to have experienced before consisting of a Timberplay Timberwood Tangle Climbing Structure 2, a timber climbing structure 8 and a tractor tyre swing. All of the equipment is suitable for children from 6 years to teenagers and is provided for the use of visitors only.

The area is designed to make to most of the amazing hilltop views and beautiful meadow setting.

Please complete a Play Area Checklist before allowing your group to use, this is a quick easy visual and physical check to ensure the play equipment is safe for groups to use given that the site is unsupervised.

We recommend that you communicate with other users of the site to organise when you would like to use the play area or campfire circle.
